Mark your calendars and join us on these dates to build connections,
explore your interests, and be part of a vibrant community!
Bring your friend, family, partner, child, or neighbor to our free play and make sessions! We have Quilt Night (ages 8+), Art Club, Game Night (all ages) and Story Time (0-5 with adult caregiver). Please note that young folks under 18 must attend with an adult.
Art Night
Second Wednesdays 5-8pm
Bring your own materials to work on your art or craft projects alongside other makers in our lobby, or start something new with the materials provided!
Set up a still life, have your friends pose for a figure drawing, create an exquisite corpse, ask for critique, have a doodle fight, fill a sketchbooks, or collaborate with your neighbor to finish your next masterpiece.
Suggested donation of non-perishables food, menstrual products, or Hygiene products for our mutual aid efforts.

Open Mic | Creative Show and Tell with Collaboration Laboratory
First Wednesdays 5-8pm
Open mic circle for sharing songs, poems, stories, visual art, handmade work, and works-in-progress.
Creative Show & Tell is a relaxed, multidisciplinary open mic.
Bring 1-2 things to share, that can be a song, poem, short story, joke, piece of visual art, handmade object, work-in-progress, or creative idea you want to share with people.
Each person will have up to 6 minutes. If there’s time, we may do a second round!

Quilt Club
Third Wednesdays 6-8 pm
Learn quilting basics or show off your skills by working on a collaborative project with other quilters!
Participants must register in Mindbody and sign a code of conduct.

Celebrating Ms. Sharmane–Long Time Textile Instructor
Sharmane Herron, affectionately known around Open Works as “Ms. Sharmane,” has been with Open Works Baltimore since it opened in 2016. When she started, her niece was working at Open Works and introduced her as a knowledgeable seamstress and maker. She has experience with all the textile equipment, as well as the 3D printers and computer labs. As of the end of January 2025, she will officially be retiring.
