Shop Safety & introductory Courses
Shop Safety courses are required to use our Textiles, Wood, Metal, and Digital Fabrication shops. They provide instruction in basic tool usage as well as a general shop orientation so you know where to find the emergency shut-offs, dust collection, and hand tools.
Skills classes & workshops
Skill classes are not required for shop access and give an introduction or refresher to some main programs used for digital and graphic design.
Workshops are organized around making something specific, from tote bags to pour-over coffee stands and more! We offer in-person and virtual options.
Foundation Classes
Foundation classes are 4-session introductions to a specific fabrication discipline to take you from beginner to confident maker in four successive weekends.
Making for Seniors
Open Works offers a quarterly class series for active adults over 55 on a sliding-scale basis. Choose a four-week track in Wood or Sewing, and get started in a new hobby or hone up some rusty skills. Sign up online.
Call or email us to find out about our Pay-What-You-Can Senior Membership.
Foundation Classes qualify as Safety Certification and will grant shop access upon completion
