One of our FAVORITE things to do is connect makers with opportunities! There are a lot coming up in the next few weeks — check out the links below for accelerators, competitions, and vending opportunites.

The inaugural Make/Space Accelerator is now accepting applications for artists interested in renovating live/work space in southwest Baltimore.

+ CCBC is accepting vendor applications for GradFest 2023 on May 13th. Contact Claudia McDonough at 443-840-3544 or cmcdonough@ccbcmd.edu to register for a table.

+ Innovations Works and the Miller Center are looking for a few good social enterprises for their IW Boost Accelerator

The Rubys are now open! These project-based artist grants come with some extra resources this year — including membership and classes at Open Works!

We had a terrific visit from the new Maryland Secretary of Housing and Community Development, Jake Day, and his team on Wednesday. DHCD has been a generous supporter of Open Works since 2016, contributing to the construction, helping us overhaul our computer fleet last year, and funding our new Maker Navigator program launching later this spring. Hit the button below to check out DHCD’s programs for rental assistance, affordable homeownership, low-interest development loans, and more! Learn More.

Now that studios are back to close to 100% occupancy, we have noticed a big uptick in mail volume. To help keep things more organized and secure, we have centralized mail in studio B8. Shelves for packages will be in next week. Don’t have a studio? In April, we will be rolling out a package concierge service that can be added onto membership. In the meantime, you can always sign up for a membership orientation on our website!

Our hardworking staff has inventoried the software available on all 62 of our new computers. You can now conveniently tell what each machine has on it at a glance with the laminated cards on the side of the towers.
