Open Works is turning 6!
Join us for a week of anniversary events.

 

October 30:

8:30AM – 10:00AM: Creative Mornings @ Open Works with Evan Woodward.

CreativeMornings/Baltimore is a FREE monthly breakfast lecture series based on the two core principles that everyone is creative and everyone is invited. CM/Bal is one of over 200 chapters around the world meeting each month. Every month, all chapters organize talks based on the same theme. CreativeMornings is fueled by an engine of generosity and is 100% volunteer run, partnering with great local businesses and organizations.

4:00PM – 5:00PM: Sippin’ Solidarity Monthly Social Hour

Sippin’ Solidarity is a monthly virtual social hour for BIPOC Makers. This month our very own April Lewis will be hosting and featuring Open Works resident member, Samantha Montgomery of The Boutique Life. This is a social event! Including some fun ice breakers, occasional special guests, and lots of show n’ tell or just chillin’ with other BIPOC makers.

October 1:

11 AM – 12:30 PM: Made In Baltimore Product Description Workshop
12 PM – 1 PM: Coffee Cupping with Black Acres Roastery

Black Acres Roastery is hosting an in person cupping. Coffee cupping is a global ritual for assessing fragrance, aroma and flavor of coffee. Whether you’re a coffee novice or professional, this is a fun opportunity to try all of Black Acres offerings. We will follow the modified SCA cupping protocol due to COVID. Space is limited so register today!

Senior Foundations wood 9:30 AM – 12:30 PM Wood
6 PM – 9 PM: 3D Printing

This course will lead you through the basics of using the 3D printers at Open Works, covering several methods of creating and downloading 3D models, proper file preparation, common causes of failed prints, and operation for our Ultimaker 2 Extended 3D printers. Basic computer literacy skills essential for a meaningful experience.

5 PM – 8 PM: Maker Support, Sewing and Wood.

October 7:

4PM-6 PM: Member Social Birthday Bash, Deck and Patio

To celebrate SIX years of making tools, technology and the knowledge to use them accessible to all, we’re breaking out the grill, making use of our newly upgraded outdoor space and inviting our member community to join us! If you’re a member, day pass user, participated in our classes, attended events or programming, or participated in our community in any way–you’re invited!

We’ll supply the grilled food and fixings, you bring your favorite snack, side dish or dessert to share. Please complete the form below to let us know if you’ll be there to party with us.
