Open Works
Open Works Weekly 9/3/2021
Reminder Open Works will be closed on Monday for Labor Day.
If you’ve never had the chance to see our space, one of our Community Orientation sessions is a great place to start. It’s also the first step to membership. Starting after Labor Day, there will be virtual community orientations at 6:30-7:30 on Tuesdays and in-person orientations will take place on Wednesdays and Saturdays at their regularly scheduled times.
We will once again have a limited supply of quality plywood in our material store. If you need a sheet or two for a project, contact the front desk or speak to one of our technicians. It’s been tough to get our hands on this stuff, especially at affordable prices, so pricing and availability won’t be as consistent as it was pre-pandemic.
Many of our members and staff love spending time on their bikes; in fact if you’ve spent any time down in our workshops, you’ve probably noticed that there are always bikes hanging on the (lovely indoor) bike racks. So, you know we love to see bike gear being made in our facilities right here in Baltimore!!! Dan Doggett of PTAP Designs uses technology like our laser cutters to produce great gear with consistency and precision, and if you ask us, it’s quite sharp too!!!
Whether you’re retouching a snap-shot or creating digital paintings, Adobe Photoshop is the industry standard for professional image editing. It’s full of tools to help make your landscapes pop, remove distracting elements, and make your products stand out on the screen. Come learn to alter and resize images, file type basics, color-correct, remove dust spots and blemishes, and delete unwanted elements in our upcoming Photoshop workshop on Oct 13.
