City Health Order that all Baltimore City Residents and guest are required to wear masks indoors as of 9am, Aug 9th

In case anyone missed it, the Mayor’s office announced yesterday that, effective 9AM on Monday, August 9th, all Baltimore City residents and guests are required to wear face coverings when indoors, regardless of vaccination status. Open Works has kept our mask policy in place so we won’t need to make any changes to be compliant with this city health order. Just like in our workshops, safety is our highest priority.

Short on masks after a summer of eating outside and backyard get-togethers? Do the ones ya got left look like their next wash might be their last? You have been washing your masks, right?

Don’t worry, we’ve got you(r mouth and nose) covered. This weekend only and while supplies last, get our soft, 3-layer masks for only $8 with the discount code MASKUP!!! Regularly $12, our stylish masks are made just two blocks south by our friends at SewLab USA. The middle layer contains activated charcoal for additional protection and the two-strap design takes the pressure off your ears. Don’t your poor ears deserve a break?  Use this link, or the one below and the code will automatically be applied at checkout. The sale ends at midnight on Monday so act now!!!

Funhouse mirrors? Art installation? Upgrades to the Open Works Mobile van? You’ll just have to wait and see!!! We did think it’d be fun to give you a sneak peak of what’s percolating in the coffee shop space. In the meantime, thanks for putting up with the mess. Just think how pleasant the space will be when all this work is done. 3d printers with icons for photoshop and illustrator composited in More Fall workshops on the calendar!!! In addition to Quilting Basics and Upholstery there’s been workshops on the Adobe Suite and 3D printing added to the schedule. Learn more here. We’ll be offering workshops on Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign. This essential trinity of graphic design software has been the industry standard for years. Each workshop will cover the fundamentals of one of these popular programs. We’re also offering a workshop on 3D printing that will lead you through the basics of using the 3D printers at Open Works, covering several methods of creating and downloading 3D models, proper file preparation, common causes of failed prints, and operation for our Ultimaker 2 Extended 3D printers. Maria-Theresa Fernandes and examples of her work mixing wood and textiles Now that we’ve resumed monthly memberships, we can’t wait to see how Maria-Theresa Fernandes will continue using the tech at Open Works in inspiring ways. Check out some of her recent work incorporates laser cut wood with stitching and textile and explores themes of play, travel, and environment, which have played an important role in Ms Fernandes’ work over the course of her 40+ year career.
