Open Works

OW Weekly / 1/13/2020

Welcome to 2020! We’ve made our resolutions and checked them twice, and we are so excited for a new year of programming, classes, and community events. Our main goal? To see more of you! Check out our membership options, sign up for a class (lot of new offerings this year!), apply for a scholarship, or participate in a community meeting.

2019 Annual Report

Our 2019 Annual Report is now live on our about page here. Learn more about what our community accomplished last year and where we are headed in 2020. We’d also like to offer a BIG thanks to all of our 2019 funders — as a community-based nonprofit, we rely on grants and donations of 50% of our annual budget. Want to help us grow? Chip in for our 2020 Scholarship Fund today.

MAE Expo

Join us this Saturday from 11 AM – 2 PM in the ballroom of the Morgan State University Student Center to celebrate our fall 2019 cohort of Moms as Entrepreneurs. These 20 women have spent 3 months crafting their businesses and are excited to share their progress and vision with you! Register here.

Accelerator Opportunities

Technical.ly Baltimore has a great roundup of accelerator opportunities over on their site. OW’s very own Innovation Works just opened applications for its IW Boost program. Applications due 2/27.

Candidate Forum

Our friends at the Harwood Community Association are sponsoring a 12th District Candidate’s Forum on Wednesday, February 5th from 6-8 PM. Come hear from the candidates directly about their vision for our district.

Coffee Corner

Check out Conchita, Thread Coffee’s new collab with Peabody Heights Brewery! This dry-hopped brown ale features fair-trade Colombian coffee roasted right in the lobby at Open Works. Available at Peabody’s tap room at 30th and Barclay or wherever fine adult beverages are sold.
